Double Dash!! comes in a few different flavors to mess around with, which the host can decide as they see fit. However, Double Dash also typically follows a set formula. You're either assigned random teams, or can team up with 1 or more players, and you're tasked to race to kill the ender dragon. You are also granted Abilities, either at random or it's determined before the match begins.
Each game will last around 2 hours in a random Minecraft world, so make sure that you're ready if you're going to play! Games are either scheduled a bit in advance, or we'll try to occassionally ping and figure out who wants to play at random times.
Double Dash adds plenty of new mechanics to the game. Below is a list of some of the most significant.
Double Dash introduces quite a few changes to Vanilla Minecraft, including:
Some items are soulbound to your player, such as Abilities. These will not drop on death, and cannot be picked or obtained by other players.
Players will drop 5 items[4] when killed from any source. You will never drop:
When a player's bed is broken, they will now spawn within 150 blocks of their previous bed location[5]
This is to prevent a massive loss in progress due to a bed being destroyed, as this can easily devastate a team.
After a player is killed, they become a Dishonorable Kill for 60 seconds[6]. As a dishonorable kill, you will:
However, if you kill any other players as a dishonorable kill, then they will not drop items or points either.
When killed, you must wait a short time before respawning. The formula for the respawn timer can be represented as , where is the amount of points that your team currently has, and is the current game time, in seconds. The respawn timer will never exceed 40 seconds total.
Some abilities can counteract this respawn timer significantly, such as Necromancy.
Game rules can be modified before a game starts to dictate different aspects of the game, which helps keep the game fresh. The host is able to modify these at any point as they see fit, however it's recommended to only use rules that all players agree upon for the sake of fairness.
Below is a incomplete list of important game rules. See Patch Notes to get a complete list of Double Dash game rules.

See Abilities for more information
Abilities are granted at the beginning of a game, and can allow you to do a variety of different things. There are currently 29 abilities in the game.
In a typical game, you are granted 2 one-time use abilities, 2 abilities with a cooldown, and 2 abilities that are either passive or that can be used at any time. These are color coded red, yellow, and green respectively.
If you need to leave mid-match, then you can run the /resign
command to temporarily leave the game and buff your teammates. This will take 20 seconds to do, so make sure you're in a safe area before attempting this.
Resigning will grant your teammates:
When you log back in after 5 or more minutes, then these buffs will be revoked from your teammates, and you will receive a Catchup.
If multiple people on the same team are resigned simultaneously, the potency of the applied buffs will increase.
You are not allowed to resign with the intention of buffing your teammates. This is a feature designed to assist teams who are missing a player, not to get an edge on the other team.
In the traditional Double Dash mode, your task is to defeat the ender dragon. One hitpoint of damage to the dragon will grant your team one point. The team with the highest points by the end of the game will win.
The following auxillary methods can be used to obtain points:
Even if you have more points than possible to obtain from the dragon, the only way for the game to end is by killing the dragon!
